The Drive (Part 3)
• Thursday, August.30.07 •
Nice!
I made it early to Phoenix,
Thanks to my extra effort yesterday.
Tomorrow I'm playing a show at the Fiddlers Dream,
One of my favorite Music Venues in the world.
The cool thing about it is that you have no microphone,
You actually play with no amplification at all.
The room has a nice warm acoustic feel to it,
So it's almost like playing at home,
In your favorite corner of your favorite room.
I do love Phoenix very much,
But there is something wrong with a place
when you go out at 10pm and it's still hotter
than taking a "Magma" bath in an active volcano.
If it wouldn't get so hot during the summers in Arizona,
I think I would move out here for a while.
(And that's in all honesty)
With that said, tomorrow is "Air Conditioned Day",
At least for me...
The Drive (Part 2)
• Wednesday, August.29.07 •
Today was the "Full day of driving" day.
I went for an early start in hopes of getting as many
Miles under my belt as I possibly could.
I ended up making it all the way to Santa Rosa, NM
After leaving Little Rock this morning.
(Which means I drove about 760 miles)
My goal for the day consisted of two things:
1. Avoid driving when the sun comes down.
2. Don't sleep in Texas.
Now I don't have anything against Texans (Accept maybe one)
Please don't get me wrong,
But for some reason in things seem to be bigger in TX.
The 72 Ounce (Almost 2 Kilogram) steak you can get in Amarillo,
Free if you manage to finish the whole thing in one sitting.
To a "Giant Cross" out in the middle of nowhere,
Which seems to hold people hostage.
I for one don't mind religion that much,
Some people are good and some people are bad,
In most cases it's as simple as that.
My problem is with people who say: "The land of the free"
And yet think it's wrong for a woman to have an abortion.
(And there are a few more examples...)
With that said, New Mexico is something else.
One of the best kept secrets in the U.S.
I've been fortunate enough to travel all over the country.
Some of the coolest, most genuinely nice people
Can be found in these parts.
In places like Santa Fe you can find amazing art,
And the natural beauty is absolutely breathtaking.
I wish I wasn't in such a hurry tomorrow,
I'd drive up to Santa Fe or all the way up to Taos for a visit.
If there is one thing I'd recommend my friends,
On a very tiresome night like tonight.
It's - Visit New Mexico!
While your at it, Tour around the Colorado Plateau,
At least once in your lifetime.
Oh... And be more open minded...
Freedom is a subjective thing,
You can be sure that some people look at things differently,
The old tale of two sides to a story.
I hope you weren't offended by anything I said tonight,
I never mean to say things in a harmful way.
I love us all.
The Drive (Part 1)
• Tuesday, August.28.07 •
It is time to go...
I'd left Nashville earlier today and started heading West,
Phoenix is my final destination so I have about 1,600 miles
To put under my belt. (I-40 West...)
Today I made it to Little Rock, Arkansas.
I've never really been to Little Rock.
(Passing through doesn't really count in my book)
The reunion with my van went over well,
We've had some good times the two of us.
I can't believe how long it's been,
But it is pretty much like riding a bicycle.
(And cruise control comes in handy)
I have to admit something...
It could be me and it could be the situation,
But just outside this motel a guy came up to me,
The kind of guy your parents tell you not to talk to
When you're a child and they warn you about "Strangers".
This "Strange" Stranger started talking me,
Which made me feel somewhat uncomfortable.
I used to think that there are about 5,999,990,000 people
that would be considered "Strangers" if our paths crossed,
And I've always trusted my instincts to guide me.
Tonight my instincts told me to run for my life,
And that is never a good thing.
It's time to go to sleep,
Maybe tomorrow's "Strangers" won't be as "Strange".
'XX' Amount of Words
• Thursday, August.16.07 •
I could wake up on any given morning
and write 5,000 words that make no sense.
I would much rather instead write 'XX' that
mean something in some way. (?!)
To successfully write interesting things,
Or even something mysterious, Or funny perhaps.
Over quantity I choose quality, Every time!
How does one create such things with words?
It's a kind of magic, an ancient spell of sorts.
Good things come to those who wait...
However, you can only reach the heights you aim for.

I'm standing on the edge of Reality,
Trying to figure out if Reality wins the Battle.
In a world where buttons control pretty much Everything,
I want to know how close to "Everything" we actually are.
Why am I addicted to Playstation games?
It could be because I love a skillful challange...
Maybe because Manchester United have a player called Giggs...
|
In this Battle - Reality Wins!
But the Buttons are catching up... Seriously...
An Interesting Concept
• Monday, August.6.07 •
Hello Friends,
I'm currently reading a book that was written by one of my favorites:
Hunter Thompson, "Fear and Loathing in America:
The Brutal Odyssey of an Outlaw Journalist"
In the editor's notes in the books opening,
There is a quote by lawyer from 1920.
I hope you find this as interesting as I have.
"Gentlemen, nature works in a mysterious way.
When a new truth comes upon the earth,
Or a great idea necessary for mankind is born,
Where does it come from?
Not from the police force or the prosecuting attorneys
or the judges or the lawyers or the doctors;
Not there.
It comes from the despised and the outcast;
It comes perhaps from jails and prisons;
It comes from men who have dared to be rebels
and think their thoughts;
And their fate has been the fate of rebels.
This generation gives them graves
while another builds them monuments;
And there is no exception to it.
It has been true since the world began,
And it will be true no doubt forever.
Clarence Darrow, 1920
The Simpsons, The Movie
• Friday, August.3.07 •
I heard about this movie coming out a few months ago,
Of course I had to check it out as soon as I got the chance.
(I love The Simpsons...)
Since I don't want to spoil it,
I will impersonate a Simpsons character, Nelson.
"Ha-Ha..." (and point my finger to complete the image)
|
|
This movie made me laugh about 952 times,
Everyone else in the theatre was laughing,
I'm sure you will to.
