Venus Vs. Mars (Episode 1)
• Thursday, June.28.07 •

Hello My Friends,
I've come to realize that perhaps
The two most important words in the human language are:
      YES      and      NO
They are definite, They are conclusive,
They are incontrovertible...
  Are they???

The answer to one of life's greatest mysteries, Women,
Lies in these two simplest of words.
Well... At least part of the answer...

Before I go any further, I don't hate women.
Some of my best friends happen to be women.
I honestly love (almost) everything about you...

To fully understand the degrees of "Yes-ness" and "No-ness",
Expressed by a specific woman.
You must take into account the "Other" factors.
This "Other-ness" code is often expressed through Body Language.
On other occasions you must Evaluate the Y/N Question and the Sub Text.
Often times the code is much more complex.
This complexity has fooled many good men throughout history.
(Probably all men at one point or another...)

I cannot give you the key to deciphering the code,
But I can give you the "If all else fails" back up plan.
When you don't get the code right,
Make sure she knows it's All your fault.
(And a Small / Thoughtful gift Never hurts)

Neil Young - 1971
• Sunday, June.24.07 •

I saw Neil Young on DVD,
Live at 'Massey Hall' from January 19, 1971.

I didn't know they made DVD's back then,
But I'm sure glad they made this one...

Neil Young - Live at Massey Hall

Neil Young performing solo,
Singing his beautiful songs with his flawless delivery.
Splitting his time between the Acoustic Guitar and Piano,
While taking me on a journey into his soul.

Magic

Magical

Inspiring

Educating

Wow
Neil Young

I must go and play some music,
Or smash every one of my guitars...
I think I should go play before I get any crazy ideas!

Behind the Scenes
• Wednesday, June.20.07 •

I'm sitting in the recording studio right now,
We're trying to find the "Right" sound for the Keyboard.
I wonder if such a thing actually exists...

I love the recording process.
Frustrating as it is at times,
It's always an interesting and creative experience.

We've been working on some new songs for the last couple of weeks,
I'm very excited about the way they are coming together.
I feel like a painter with a blank canvas...
    Music is my paintbrush.

Cool Business
• Saturday, June.16.07 •

I've been in Israel for a week now,
I'm finally getting through a full night of sleep.
I must admit that it's been a challenging Time Zone adjustment.
(Like a short visit to the "Twilight Zone"...)

My days are now split between Recording music,
Writing music, Playing music and eating ice cream.
The summer kicked in while I was away,
It feels like the sun is a little too close.
I just wish I could sit in an air conditioned room all day.

No Sleep + Heat = Grumpy!!

A friend of mine had this crazy idea a little while back,
Having some kind of booth in the middle of the street.
"If you can't stand the heat... Step inside."
You walk in and it cools you down for a minute or two,
You refresh yourself in the "Cool" breeze.
We are in the business of selling "Coolness".

That actually sounds pretty good,
Except for the actual product of course.

To Do List:  Tomorrow, June.17
  (1) Dive into the Mediterranean.
  (2) Become "Cool".
  (3) Doesn't matter...

What is the Meatrix
• Tuesday, June.12.07 •

Hello my fellow humans,
I'm not going to get into this topic too much,
The fear is strong within me...

Many people ask me why I don't eat meat,
I've been off meat since 2003.
For some reason I get a funny look when I talk about it,
So I just won't do it...

But fear not my friends,
I'm going to do much better than that...
I invite you to have a look at The Meatrix

You may be asking yourselves:
"What is the Meatrix?"
Just let your mouse lead the way.
I assure you that you will have a good laugh,
Because it's very well done.
Very.

Tips from a Frequent Flyer
• Saturday, June.9.07 •

I'm in Osaka at the moment, waiting to board my flight back home.
Thirteen hours full of excitement and 5,682 miles in the air.
(Approximately 9,091 km... OK, I used a calculator)

Without getting into it too much,
I've been flying around the globe my entire life.
My first flight over the Atlantic Ocean was before I turned a year old,
I've been going strong ever since.
I truly believe that this the main reason
Why I can't stay in one place for too long.
    (Ask anybody)

Anyway, I've learned a few things through these experiences.
If you are planning a trip that involves a long flight you should read this.
Not really but I promise it will be fun.
OK, it's actually really boring but what do you expect?
I'm at an airport waiting for a flight and I'm bored.
(Please ignore my cynicism, some of this may actually be useful)

15 Tips for a Long Flight

 (1) Long flight = Over 5 hours.

 (2) Eat before you board the airplane, the food is never good.

 (3) Bring something to munch on while you are on board.
Like I said before, the food is never good.

 (4) I don't care which airline you're traveling with,
       The food is NEVER good.

 (5) First class is a different story. (But it will cost you…)

 (6) First class is a different story but as far as the food goes
it still depends on the airline you are traveling with.

 (7) Don't rely on the "In Flight Entertainment" for entertainment.

 (8) I would highly recommend wearing clean socks and sneakers
Or the kind of shoes that you can take off easily.
(Don't wear the ones with all the metal parts connected to it)

 (9) Speaking of metal put all of your "Metal Belongings" and jewelry
In your "Carry on" while you are waiting for the secrurity check,
It's not like you have something better to do...
I say, "Better in your bag than in one of those plastic things".
Grrr...  Just don't hold up the line for crying out loud!!!

(10) This reminds me,
Make sure you have the slightest amount of objects in your pockets
BEFORE you go through the security check.

(11) I would suggest wearing sweatpants or something comfortable.
Remember, you're about to sit for over five hours.

(12) Take into consideration that it can get pretty cold in a T-Shirt.

(1#) There is no such thing as bad luck,
Unless it involves the random person sitting next to you.
      (I hope I didn't jinx it...)

(14) Don't worry too much about looking sharp,
Unless of course somebody you want to "Look Sharp For"
Is picking you up at the airport  (Wink! - Hey Mom)

(15) Most importantly, if you are on your way back from your vacation
And you have taken photos that are still on a roll of film
(That has NOT been developed yet)
Make sure they don't go through that X-Ray machine.
This may involve a hand security check of all the film cases
       that you're carrying with you.
If anything, TRUST ME when I tell you this...
DON'T TRUST the person that tells you,
"Film doesn't get ruined in those X-Ray machines."
            (My poor pictures from Italy)

I hope you enjoyed flying with Gigs,
   Have a lovely trip.
      Good bye now... Ba-Bye Now...

Taking a Plunge
• Thursday, June.7.07 •

Just another walk in the park... Or was it?
To start things off, I went to the "Washuzan Highland" park yesterday,
It's a small amusement park with a South American theme.
(Around Okayama in the southern part of Japan)

The fun thing about it was that it was a weekday,
There were only 10-15 patrons "Amusing" themselves.
  Absolutely NO lines!!!  (Awesome)

Now, you may be wondering what the "Plunge" in the title is all about,
That is a good question and the answer is quite simple.
If you look below you will see a young man hanging in mid air.
Yes, you guessed it... THAT is me.
My first ever Bungee jump - "No Fear", "No Stalling"
(And even "No Looking" for the first few seconds)
It was a true adrenaline rush and a marvelous experience.

1, 2, 3, Bungee! Are we there yet??

With that said, the only problem I had all day was the stairs,
You wouldn't believe the kind of terrain they built this park on.
I'm very serious! I'm not just being a crybaby,
Getting around from one place to another was a workout.
So to answer the initial question... NO!
It was not "Just" another walk in the park.

A Whale of a problem
• Monday, June.4.07 •

Before you read this I must warn you,
You may not like what you are about to read.

This post is inspired by a conversation I had about whales.
Just for the record, I'm still in Japan and as you may know,
The I.W.C (International Whaling Commission)
Has been on the news recently,
Putting a lot of pressure on Japan over their "Whaling".

The truth is, I didn't know much at all about this issue,
But I've learned a little bit about it through that conversation.
(And then reading about it on the Internet)

I didn't know how much of a historical cultural matter this is Japan.
Whale meat is considered part of the traditional Japanese cuisine,
I was told by someone that it was on the menu when he was at school.
They have been eating Whale for ages. (Since at least the 12th Century)
Another interesting fact is that "Minke Whales"
Are not an endangered species,
And the reality of it is, they are the most commonly pursued breed.

Many Japanese wonder why the rest of the world is so upset,
And after reading a little bit about these issues,
I think I understand the basis for this dispute.
This problem is rooted in cultural differences.
(Like so many conflicts in our world)

Here's a fun example, in a country like India cows are a sacred animal.
What would happen if they were the "World leader"?
What if they made sanctions to stop everybody from
Eating 'Big Macs' and 'Whoppers'?

I guess that humans killing animals for food is a part of our society,
Who decides what makes one method right and another wrong?
  A subjective mystery.

What?? LeBron James
• Friday, June.1.07 •

I remember it was 2004,
I was in a hotel room while touring in the US,
Falling asleep to the sounds of ESPN...

Some of you may not know,
But I love basketball (Yes - "I Love This Game")
When I was younger, before I got very lazy and started smoking,
I was actually a very good player.
When I turned 18 I'd realized that 5'9 (176cm) was it for me,
My dreams of becoming a pro were shattered.
(I was a pretty serious High School athlete - Track & Field)

On that night in 2004 some guy came on T.V and said,
"I don't like the fact that people are calling him 'King'
Before he ever dribbled a basketball in the N.B.A."
He was of course talking about the High School phenom,
(Who I was lucky enough to catch a few times as an 'Irish')
"King" James, "The Chosen One", LeBron.

King Lebron James Lebron James - The Chosen One

Now to make a very long story short,
I'm in Japan at the moment so I couldn't watch the game last night,
I've been following the N.B.A playoffs through the Internet.
Now, for a player to score his teams last 25 points, (48 in Total)
In a double overtime game and win it... WOW!!!
Enough said.

He is the "King" of the jungle,
He was born to be what he is,
We are watching sports history in the making.
(And the boy is still only 22...)

Lebron James Witnesses - Nike Add

I'm just wondering if that guy from ESPN
Ever put his foot in his mouth,
Maybe he should just chew on a shoe... (A 'Zoom Lebron' perhaps)
