My New Bass Guitar
• Monday, May.28.07 •

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words,
So here's a picture...

Fender Jazz Bass It's a 1993 Fender "Jazz Bass"
Quite the "Looker" if you ask me,
But I may be bias.
:)

The beginning of a Beautiful Friendship!

The Champagne Challenge
• Friday, May.25.07 •

So this is how it happened:
    (A) We got four different bottles of champagne.
        1. "Dom Perignon"
        2. "Veuve Clicquot"
        3. "Moet et Chandon"
        4. "The cheapest thing they had" (I can't remember)
    (B) We poured them into four glasses
    (C) We had a small taste of each.

The challenge was to see which one is the absolute best!!
(And have as much fun as we can along the way)

Before I go any further, I have to point out a few things.
This challenge was conducted under my "Super" vision,
What you are about to read are the honest results.
And most importantly!!
There was no way to know which glass contained which brand,
I used the full proof - "Pouring in the other room Method" -
To make sure this "Challenge" was legit.

And here is what we learned:
In fourth place, mainly because of a so called "Wooden Flavor",
(Which actually sounded very professional at the time) "Veuve Clicquot".

The biggest surprise was that "Dom Perignon" came in third place,
What does that tell you Mr. P-Diddy??
(I have no idea why I just said that...)

In second place it was "The cheapest thing they had",
Which teaches us that money and branding can only get you so far.
(Or that sometimes you get a better bang for your buck
when you use pocket change)

And in first place,
The winner of the "Unofficial Champagne Challenge" is...

Moet et Chandon
"Moet et Chandon"

(I guess the "Killer Queen" knew what she was doing,
keeping it in her pretty cabinet and what not)

It was quite an entertaining night all together,
It was just this morning that was a bit odd.

My Male Crush (Yeah, it's Johnny)
• Tuesday, May.22.07 •

This weekend, "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" is coming out,
Personally (just to be honest) I'm not a big fan of this trilogy,
Without getting into it too much, It's just not my preferred genre.
With that said, I just can't wait to see "Captain Jack Sparrow" on his latest adventures.

Johnny Depp Captain Jack Sparrow

The truth is that you can put Johnny Depp in a movie about pillow casings and I would watch it. Seriously, I Would!!
I respect his movie choices and admire his acting talents that much.
(I would have his babies if I could...)

Johnny, If somehow you stumbled into my journal,
And you are reading these strange lines about
me wanting to have your babies, I hope it makes you smile,
And NO!! I have not gone "completely sideways".

Looking back through time, my little crush started about 6-7 years ago,
I was living in Los Angeles when "Blow" came out.
When I saw the movie, standing there on the shelves of that DVD store,
I didn't really know anything about it.
My reaction was 'Hey, Johnny Depp is in this one, it has to be good'.
And that's when it hit me, Johnny's been in so many great films!!

So I'd started a one man, private fan-club (AKA fetish) and pretty much went through his entire filmography in the following weeks.
It was great to watch movies like "Edward Scissorhands"
and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape", when I was a bit older,
And could fully appreciate how amazing he is in them.
(Did I forget to mention how heart throbbing he is???)

It's so nice to have a huge star, who's obviously a gifted actor,
That doesn't just go for the big budget "Box office Supremacy" type films.

The fact that he portrays characters ranging from "Don Juan" to
"Willy Wonka", And in the same breath will undertake characters such as
"Rochester" (In 'The Libertine') and "Raoul Duke", Is truly astonishing.
(And quite rare when you compare his body of work to other actors)

Willie Wonka Raoul Duke (Dr. Gonzo)

On top of all that, he seems like a genuinely down to earth kind of guy,
Intelligent, Humble and in it for the artistic values of a film.
That is why I'll watch any movie with Johnny Depp,
Even if it were to be about dirty diapers.

Johnny, if you are reading this,
    Please keep making great films.
Don't ever stop working with Tim Burton.
And send me an E-Mail, Seriously!!

Japanic
• Saturday, May.19.07 •

 Based On Untrue Events...
If you happen to get into trouble with the authorities
Whilst you are in a foreign country.
Say, The Japanese Police  (for example)

You may want to consider taking these actions:
(1) Speak in a language other than English.
(2) Act puzzled, like you have no idea what's going on.
By doing this, the man of law could get frustrated and let you go.

WARNING! This will only work if:
    (A) You are actually fluent in another language.
    (B) You are very articulate in all forms of Gibberish,
    (C) You have not killed anyone!  (Or done any other serious crime)

Is there life on Mars?
• Friday, May.18.07 •

Some of you may think that I'm going to talk about David Bowie,
When the fact of the matter is, I'm actually going to talk about Mars.
Now, What do I know about Mars?
(Except for the "Pretty good chocolate" factor)

I was reading an article about NASA and one of their recent discoveries,
Please don't get me wrong, I am very curious about our solar system,
The fact that you can buy a ticket to space (For only $23 Million dollars)
Is truly unbelievable to me.
I honestly can't wait to meet an "Ewok" or a "Klingon" or myself.

Ewok Wharf

So here's the basic idea of what I'd read in a Yahoo! News article,
I've added some personal insights (?) along the way.
This is amazing but kind of funny at the same time.

"Spirit" and its twin rover "Opportunity" had completed their missions on Mars in 2004. However, NASA have continued to explore the planet with the aforementioned vehicles, On their quest to -
"Go where no man has ever gone before".

The article said they were "Aging" and that one of "Spirit's" Wheels was broken, And because of this mechanical failure, when they drive "Spirit" around it scrapes the planet's surface.
This "Scraping" lead to a miraculous chemical finding:
Mars was once much wetter than it is now.

What I really found interesting is that we're really all just kids at the end of the day, Still playing around with our little toy cars and trucks.
I can just see the folks at NASA in a boardroom meeting saying:
'Hey guys, lets put a "Rover" on Mars and ummm...
    Like... play in the dunes.'

The "Scientists" have been "Rovering" Mars for over three years,
Fiddling around with a little joystick.
Hmmm... That actually sounds pretty cool.
Can someone pass me the remote???

Tales from the Unknown Path (TY Bob Dylan)
• Wednesday, May.16.07 •

I'm in Japan at the moment,
Finished up my business here so I have some time to relax.
If Bill Murray had taught me anything about "Relaxing Times"
While you are in a foreign country,
What you need is a good bottle of whiskey.
(It is 13:00, So maybe it's too early for that)

There is quite a lot on my plate at the moment,
I'm not talking about Sushi or even a real plate for that matter,
I'm talking about the puzzle in my head,
And the pieces that need to somehow come together.

For the first time in a very long time,
I feel like good things are in motion,
My flame is back, And my focus as well.

For the last couple of years I've taken a step back,
I was very close to taking my last bow and calling it a day.
Recent events and good friends made me put those thoughts behind me,
They reminded me that I am what I am, A songwriter.
That I'll never be truly happy unless I have a guitar in my hand.

A few days ago I'd finished reading this book,
It's called "Chronicles: Volume One", Written by Bob Dylan.
Now this man has inspired me in a lot of ways throughout my life,
But there was this little thing he wrote that summed it all up for me.

He talks about being born with the Soul / Character of an artist,
How all his life he felt like he was chasing or looking for something.
As child it would be a "Leaf drifting away in the wind" or a "Bird".
Always looking for a more enlightened place,
For an unknown path to follow.

Well, I've been living on that path for as long as I can remember,
My parents thought they had lost me when I was about three.
We were in a very large and crowded market in Texas,
I'd found a penny and decided to go for a ride on a carousel.
Luckily somebody with a good heart saw me on that horse,
He'd realized that I was all alone out there.
From what I'd heard he took me with him,
And we went and made an announcement calling for my parents.
  Thank you good hearted man,
I don't know where I would be without you.

I'm going to leave Japan in a couple of weeks,
But I guess the path ahead is always full of twists and turns.

A New Beginning...
• Saturday, May.12.07 •

Work has officially begun on a new Design for my Website,
There is a long road ahead of us, But it was just time to do it.
(Or would that be - Time to "Just Do It"...)

The funny thing about all of this is, If you're reading this,
We have of course, finished the New Design,
And my new site's been launched.
It's all a bit confusing to me as well.

This reminds me of that part in "Back To The Future"  (Part two?)
Where 'Doc' is telling Marty about changing something in the past.
Then when you travel back to the present,
The change has already taken effect.
The present "Reality" has been altered to fit the changes made.
(That really just hurt my brain, Are you OK?)

What I'm trying to say is,
I'm making posts today that will only be uploaded in the future,
When you read this it will in fact be the past.
On one hand, It's "A New Beginning",
At the same time, This happened so long ago it can't be "New".
Alright, Enough of that.

I will say one last thing,
Whether we end up calling this portion of my site a "Blog",
Or if we choose/chose "Diary", "Journal", "Travel Log" or anything else.
I must admit... I'm having fun already, How About You???
