1. Waterfalls
• Recorded at Eddie's Attic, Georgia
You turn my eyes to waterfalls
You turn my heart to a train
And I know I know I am lost
But I've broken out of these chains
I know a curtain surrounds me
And all of this rock is a stage
We'll open up open these blinds
To see the end of this page
But we could change
I freeze when you're around me
But when you leave the seasons change
I've opened up but I'm locked inside
I'm like a bird in a cage
That's been served fear all of his life
Don't know what love really means
But we could teach a better way
And learn to dream a better dream

2. That Day
• Recorded at Eddie's Attic, Georgia
About a hundred miles away
There's this little cafe
That's where I saw you I saw you
I lost a part of me that day
You see I knew I had fallen
And all the roads they lead you way
Well honey I know I've never been to Rome
But when you're around
you make it feel like home
You make it feel like home
Well now my sky's all gray
Cause you're still miles away
And there's a part of me
That cries all night
It's longing for a sunny day
And now my face is flat on the ground
You were like a grease spot on my road
And I know this ain't no parking zone
But when you're around
You make it feel like home
You make it feel like home
Don't look at me that way
With those cute little dimples
On your face
And say that I don't mean it
Cause I mean it
You blind me with your grace
About a hundred miles from here
There's this little cafe
And that's where I saw you I saw you
You looked so beautiful that day
All I wanted was to see you smile
And make me smile for a while
You see for so long I've been alone
But when you're around
You make it feel like I'm home

3. Shine
• Recorded in Bay City, Michigan
When I look at you
It’s like I look at the moon
When I look at you
It’s like I look at the moon
And the stars in the sky
When I look at you
It’s like I look at the moon
And the stars in the sky
Because you, you shine
But I still look yeah I still stare
And all I can say is how I love babe
I tell you that I love you but you don’t care
Cause I look out there
I can’t find you anywhere
I tell you that I love you but you don’t care
Cause when I look out there
I can’t find you anywhere but in my mind
And I tell you to go away... So go away
I‘m talking to you
But you act like you don’t know

4. New Years Resolution
• Recorded at The Evening Muse, North Carolina
"I’ve got it all figured out", she says,
"It’s all in my head."
"I’ll fly down to New York City
and crawl into your bed."
She said.
"Well it sounds like a plan",
He says and smiles as he leaves,
"Damn I’m going to miss you May,
But leave a light on when I sleep."
He says.
It’s another New Years Eve in LA,
It’s been so cold since we parted ways,
Another midnight, dry mouth,
Heart with an ache.
Another New Years Eve in LA...
Without my babe.
So she writes him a letter,
"August I love you so,
I wanted to say so many times,
How your embrace it feels like home."
And then he writes her back,
"You always knew how to make me cry,
I’ve been carrying around that picture of you
From way back when you were a child."
He says.
Another New Years Eve in LA,
It’s been so cold since we parted ways,
Another midnight, a dry mouth,
Another dawning day.
New Years Eve in LA without my babe.
And I’m sorry for the times
I’d look out my window,
Way beyond the city lights,
I’d scream out your name.
I know you can’t hear me
But I know you feel the same,
And I know that there's no drug on earth
That could take away the pain...
Of another New Years Eve in LA
Without my babe.

5. This Night
• Recorded at The Evening Muse, North Carolina
So you say that you’re leaving
Well so you say
I’m sure you got your reasons
Now here’s one for stay
I want you to know
I don’t want you to go, not now
Then she gathers her belongings
And finds a way to fight
Looks like it’s gonna need a miracle
To get through this night
I want you to know
I don’t want you to go now
But if you walk out that door
Don’t come back no more I don’t mind
I don’t mind
Well she looks into my eyes
She can see right through me
So you say that you’re leaving
And I don’t want you to go
And we’re both getting kinda tired
It's just getting kinda tired

6. The Ripple
• Recorded at The Six String Cafe, North Carolina
Fighting the demons in the back of her mind
Walking on thin ice
On her search for solid ground
And all of her conviction
Well it don’t amount to much
When everything just turns to stone
To the sense of her touch
Now I am not a savior
I’m as good and bad as you
I just want you to open your mind
Don’t ask why, or who or what or how
All of this shit is happening now
But we can stop this ripple
And admit that we’re at fault
Stop this ripple
It’s the only chance we got
To stop this ripple
Our teachers must be taught
How to stop this ripple
I’m like an oceanless sailor
With no water around to find
Got no message for the bottle
I want to leave behind
"So what are we doing here", she said
"Just enjoying this moment?"
See, it’s all in your head
Just a state in your head
But we can
Stop this ripple
And admit that we’re at fault
Stop this ripple
It’s the only chance we got
To stop this ripple
Our teachers must be taught
How to stop this ripple

7. Let It Flow
• Recorded outdoors on a deck by a river in the Smokey Mountains
You, you've got me blinded
That is why I’m on my knees
Do, do whatever you want
Cause good is how you should feel
Take my hand
Lets say goodnight tomorrow morning
Take a chance, you’ve got nothing to loose
And let it flow, let it flow
So you can find something beautiful
You, you, you are an under achiever
And I have nothing you need
You can do, do whatever time offers
But to win you have to bleed
Take my hand
Lets say goodnight tomorrow morning
Take a chance, you’ve got nothing to loose
And let it flow, let it flow
So you can find something beautiful
You’ve got me to my knees
You got me on my knees
And I’ll roll over if you please

8. Scarred
• Recorded in a Coffee House, Pennsylvania
Take me in
The sun is coming down
And I hate to be alone
When it’s dark outside
I got my toothpaste, my two faced smile
Don’t we all
Go crazy like hounds
When we get a little moonshine
I know I’ve gone too far it’s too late
To save myself
I’ve been scarred
But we all know what to do
And it’s time we come through
For our child
I know I’ve gone too far
Down this road to look back
But we can take what’s left
And move in a different direction
You don’t have to follow me
Or meet me nowhere
We could say goodbye
Just promise me you’ll be aiming high
I’m looking back down that road
I know I’ve been there before
But now I’m moving on...
I now I’ve gone too far it’s too late
To save myself
I’ve been scarred
But we all know what to do
Yeah we all know what to do
And it’s time we come through
For our child

9. Love
• Recorded in a Borders Bookstore, Virginia
Written behind the wheel, Somewhere between
Dallas & New Orleans, July.12.2003
It was a beautiful night
All the kids we went out to play
And I took love to my tree house
To my secret hiding place
I confessed my love and then
I kissed her on the lips
We watched some shooting stars
So I made a little wish
I said love love love...
Can you keep her close to me forever
Can’t you see we’re meant to be together
But the years went by and that love it died
But I swore someday
True love, she would be mine
It was the first day of summer
And we just got out of school
So I went down to towns square
With my guitar and attitude
I saw love sitting on a bench
She was reading some kind of book
But I sat down right beside her
She was the nicest girl I knew
So I told her how I felt
And she said she felt the same way to
So I gave her a crystal necklace
And I sang my little tune
I sang love love love...
It was a busy day on the highway
I was on my way to work
I spilled coffee on my shirt
Because of some race car driving jerk
I made a stop at the store
I needed something clean to wear
So I walked around the aisles
And true love yeah she was there
So I made another lap
And our eyes they finally met
But I didn’t say a word
I just froze and then I left
Thinking love love love...
Then she crept up behind me
Said, "Hey love I think you forgot this"
And she handed me a card
And with a smile on her lips
Said, "Love love love,
I never thought we’d meet like this"

10. A Little Bit Of Something
About two weeks prior to recording this track
I’d purchased a "Line 6, Delay Modeler"
It has a feature called a - Loop sampler
As some of you may know,
I’d started incorporating it into my
Solo acoustic performances
After playing a show
(And not being able to fall asleep)
I felt it was a good chance for me to
"Play around" with my new toy for the first time
This recording was made around 2:00-3:00am
All in one take
In addition to the Loop station
I'd used Distortion, Chorus and "Wah" pedals
All of the sounds were played on guitar
With a few vocals that were added
(By singing into the guitar)
Into the looped track as well
This is how it all began...
